Mandheling coffee is an arabica coffee named from the Mandailing people who produce coffee in the Tapanuli region of Sumatra in Indonesia.
The coffee production area is a high plateau, known for its diversity of tree fern species. This area produces 15,000 to 18,000 tons of arabica per year.
The coffee is renowned for its unique and distinct flavour profile. This region, with its high-altitude volcanic soil and lush tropical climate, provides the ideal conditions for cultivating Arabica coffee beans.
The resulting coffee is characterised by its full-bodied, earthy richness, accompanied by notes of cedar, dark chocolate, and a subtle herbal spiciness. It is often celebrated for its low acidity, making it a favourite among coffee connoisseurs who appreciate a smooth and bold cup of java with a distinctive Indonesian twist.
Ideal as a dessert coffee or for those seeking a low acidity coffee.
